No numbers yet on Matilda

Due to a month+ long postal strike in Gauteng we did not receive our numbers and stickers on time so Matilda left pretty much unmarked and nameless. She did have her beautiful metal P2P sign on, back and front.

Matilda is on her way on CMA CGM Carmen

Here is the boat that carrying Matilda from Durban to Singapore.   Not sure which container holds Matilda, but I hope it is not the one on the top!

Learning the intricacies of the Chev rear suspension

and assisting with the engine...

Taking out the engine for the 3rd time!!!!!!

10 days before loading date .... the engine developed an ominous "tuk tuk tuk" (the scientific description) knocking sound.    Entry through the sump did not reveal the problem and the engine had to come out for the third time!!!

Were we really going to go on the trip?

A quick call to carsuk to check on airfreight pricing confirmed that we would rather work through the night........

Robert, taking the engine out......

Robert working through the window

During the mad rush in the last three weeks Robert had to resort to desperate measures to replace the universal joint on the gearbox.

We do have better pictures of him..... really!

Matilda is on her way!!!!!

After months of trials with very few tribulations we got Matilda ready just before the deadline.   Robert and I drove her down to Durban and loaded her into a container for her trip to China.

We would not have been ready if it had not been for the great help that Dalein and Robbie gave over the last weekend.

Now that she is on her way we have time for the other preparations - like setting up this blog.

Matilda before loading

At Durban harbour with the container in the background. We loaded her with Rosettastone Chinese Level 1. Lets see if she learns anthyhing on the way.
